Executive Summary

This document unites three domains:

Part 1: The Laws of Human Nature

Summary of the 18 laws (via animated synthesis of Greene). Critical assessment notes strengths in biographical historiography and weaknesses in simplified evolutionary psychology.

Mastering the Self

Navigating the Social Collective & Long-Term Fulfillment

Laws 10–18 cover envy, grandiosity, gender rigidity, aimlessness, conformity, fickleness, aggression, generational myopia, and death denial. Durable leadership requires emotional steadiness and conscious acknowledgment of mortality.

Part 2: Human Nature vs. Economic Behaviors

Psychological Driver (Greene)Economic PhenomenonMacro / Market Impact
Law 1 & 6 (Irrationality, Short-Sightedness)Hyperbolic DiscountingAsset bubbles, excess debt, flash-crashes
Law 5 & 10 (Covetousness, Envy)Conspicuous Consumption / VeblenCapital to positional goods for status
Law 11 (Grandiosity)Executive HubrisOver-leveraged M&A value destruction
Law 14 (Conformity)HerdingSystemic risk, Keynesian beauty contests
Law 17 (Generational Myopia)Minsky Credit CyclesStability breeds fragility

Cognitive Biases

These map directly onto the human-nature synthesis (Greene’s laws → economic pathologies) and the core claims of the project: floor first, visible tape, third-seat refusal, vote-by-doing.

High-impact biases in monetary and credit systems

BiasCore mechanismEconomic manifestationEgonomic counter
Hyperbolic discountingPresent self overweights immediate rewards vs. future selfExcess debt, short-term extraction, unpaid floorSenior living floor paid from named surplus before any residual claim
Status quo / loss aversionLosses loom larger than equivalent gains; change feels costlyDefense of quiet prints, resistance to visible tapeRefusal is a recorded act; unpublished change is not policy
Herding / social proofCopy others when uncertainAsset bubbles, Keynesian beauty contests, Minsky cyclesPublic tape makes the sequence visible; one verified person, one vote
Envy / positional goods (Veblen)Relative status drives desireConspicuous consumption, capital to status rather than floorFloor is absolute (basket), not relative; residual is titled even at zero
Overconfidence / hubrisSystematic overestimation of control and foresightExecutive M&A destruction, leverage spiralsSame rules bind state, firm, and person; agent cannot mint the gap
Present bias + generational myopiaFuture costs discounted or externalizedStability breeds fragility; intergenerational debtFloor stays senior; residual is titled, not erased
Confirmation / motivated reasoningSeek evidence that protects existing claimsQuiet prints rationalized as necessaryIf it cannot be shown on the tape, it is not policy
Sunk-cost / commitment biasContinue a failing line because prior investment existsDebit abandonment in historical mutual-credit systemsNon-recourse clearing; refusal stays on the record

Deeper structural ones

Classical Homo economicus assumes biases can be averaged away or corrected by information. The synthesis treats them as evolutionary defaults that override rational self-interest under scarcity, anonymity, or status pressure. The operational response is not “educate people out of the bias.” It is to change the conditions: floor paid first removes the survival hostage; visible tape makes herding and quiet prints legible; third-seat refusal gives a structural exit; vote-by-doing removes capital-weighted governance.

Part 3: Empowering Relational Faculties

Durable organization requires:

FacultyExtractive ModelRegenerative / CommonsResulting Metric
MercyPunitive interest, debt trapsJubilees, non-recourse clearingReduced contagion, higher V
Sovereignty1 dollar = 1 vote1 person = 1 vote, vote by doingCompressed Gini, lower compliance overhead
CompassionMeans-tested welfare trapsUnconditional floor from surplusHuman capital gains, lower property offenses

Platform: Egonomic Anonymous & lgme.app

Immutable verification and mutual-credit layer on Hedera. Pipeline: Floor → Mint → Issue → Tape → Charge → Agent → Thin → Desert.

Strengths include preventing debit abandonment (vs. historical LETS), anti-rehypothecation, and self-authenticating evidence. Adoption needs merchant density and simpler UX.

Floor stays senior. Same rules bind state, firm, and person. If it cannot be shown, it is not policy. Sovereignty is the refusal.
